Is this you?

Who this route is built for

  • You hold the nationality of a country with a qualifying U.S. treaty.
  • You will invest in and actively direct a real operating business.
  • You understand this is renewable status rather than a green card.

Best suited to: treaty-country nationals investing in or acquiring a u.s. business.

What it gives you

The outcome

  • Status to live in the U.S. while directing your business.
  • Renewable indefinitely while the business continues to qualify.
  • Status for your spouse and unmarried children under 21.

Core requirements

What the file has to prove

Treaty nationality, substantial active investment.

E-2 does not lead directly to a green card

E-2 is a non-immigrant status. It is renewable indefinitely while the business continues to qualify, but it is not permanent residency. If a green card is the objective, we plan the bridge to EB-5 or EB-1C from the start. The visa is also available only to nationals of eligible treaty countries — check yours before planning around it.

Must be verified for your case: treaty list and current "substantial investment" guidance. All figures on this page are indicative.
